Located in the northern reaches of Komodo National Park, this small island features a challenging 45-minute trek to a summit that reveals 360-degree views of turquoise bays, volcanic peaks, and surrounding islands.

What makes Gili Lawa Darat special is the sunrise. We anchor overnight in the calm bay below and guide guests to the trailhead before dawn. The difference? At Sebayur, you might share the experience with one or two other boats rather than the dozen that crowd Manta Point during peak hours.

The anchorage at Sebayur’s western bay is protected and calm, making it ideal for overnight stays. The reef here drops steeply from 5 meters to 30+ meters, creating a natural amphitheater where you can observe mantas from above while snorkeling on the surface. For guests on our diving charters, the deeper sections reveal eagle rays, turtles, and occasional whale sharks during the right season.

Kanawa Island — The Turquoise Lagoon

Kanawa sits just 15 minutes from Labuan Bajo harbor but feels like another world entirely. This tiny island is surrounded by a shallow turquoise lagoon with visibility exceeding 20 meters on calm days. The house reef here supports over 260 species of coral — one of the highest densities in the region.

Crystal Rock — The Underwater Cathedral

The submerged pinnacle rises from 30 meters to just below the surface, creating current-swept waters that most boats avoid anchoring near. At dawn, before the dive boats arrive from Labuan Bajo, you can snorkel directly from the yacht over Crystal Rock in calm conditions. Schools of fusiliers, giant trevally, white-tip reef sharks, and Napoleon wrasse patrol the pinnacle in the morning light. This is one of the most magical snorkeling experiences available in all of Indonesia.

Nusa Kode — The Dragon’s Private Beach

On the southern tip of Rinca Island, Nusa Kode is a small island with a palm-fringed beach and a resident population of Komodo dragons. Unlike the main trekking areas at Rinca’s ranger station, Nusa Kode’s dragons are rarely disturbed by tourists and behave naturally — hunting, swimming between islands, and basking on the beach.

The anchorage here is sheltered from prevailing winds and offers crystal-clear water for snorkeling. Tatawa Besar — The Current Garden

Tatawa Besar is a drift snorkeling paradise that most day-trip operators skip because the currents require experienced boat handling. You enter the water on one side of the reef and drift with the gentle current across fields of soft coral, table coral, and sea fans — an effortless underwater flight over a living garden.

But here is the secret: snorkeling Batu Bolong at dawn, before the dive boats arrive, is an extraordinary experience available exclusively to guests anchored overnight in the vicinity. The shallow reef crown (3-8 meters) hosts an incredible density of fish — clouds of anthias, hunting trevally, patrolling reef sharks, and occasionally even oceanic mantas passing through the channel.
