Every charter starts here, and that is not an accident
Labuan Bajo sits directly opposite the national park. Board mid-afternoon and you are at a reef by evening — no sailing day spent just getting there.

Why this port
Geography, then infrastructure
The town sits on the westernmost tip of Flores, directly across from Komodo National Park. That position is the whole reason charters run from here rather than anywhere else.
Behind it sits the practical part: fuel, water, provisioning, maintenance, and crew who have worked these waters their whole careers. Remoter ports have the scenery and none of that.
- Board mid-afternoon, snorkel the same evening
- No full sailing day burned reaching the park
- Komodo Airport is roughly 15 minutes from the harbour

Where the boats go
Five anchorages, all within reach
Each has its own page with the timings, the daypart that works and what to bring.
The day before
Arriving, and not wasting the wait
We recommend at least one full night before the charter. It removes flight risk and turns dead time into something worth having.
-
Landing

Roughly 15 minutes by taxi into town. Most hotels arrange the transfer.
- Transfer
- hotel check-in

-
Evening

Grilled fish on the waterfront, or a warung inland. Both are worth doing once.
- Waterfront dining
- night market
-
Next morning

- Fish market
- coffee

Rough conditions occasionally delay embarkation. We tell you before you leave the hotel and cover the extra night rather than have you waiting at the harbour.

Accommodation usually includes breakfast. Eating outside the hotel at least once is worth it — the waterfront fish is the reason the town had a reputation before the charters did.
Timing the arrival
One night before, or same-day
This is the only real scheduling decision, and it is worth a minute.
What we recommend
Arrive the day before
- A delayed flight costs you nothing
- You board rested rather than straight off a plane
- The town gets an evening and a morning
Tighter
Arrive on the day
- Works if you land before midday
- One less hotel night on the bill
- A missed connection means missing the departure
On the return leg, you are ashore mid to late afternoon. That suits evening domestic flights; international connections almost always need a night.
On the day
Hotel to under way
- 1
Pickup
From your hotel, 10 to 15 minutes to the harbour.
- 2
Meet the crew
Introductions on the dock before anything else happens.
- 3
Cabins and brief
Assignments, amenities, and the safety briefing.
- 4
Away
Late-afternoon departure, sunset from the deck.
Where the boat will be
Yacht positions move with the tide and harbour traffic, so the exact berth is confirmed the day before rather than at booking.
