Komodo by the day, still entirely yours

Not every trip needs a week aboard. Half a day to four nights, private boat, your route — for travellers with less time and no interest in a group schedule.

Who this is for

Short on days, not on standards

A boat charter is the same water and the same islands as a liveaboard, compressed. You board in the morning and sleep in Labuan Bajo, or stay aboard for a night or three.

It also works as a trial run. Plenty of guests take a day charter first and book a multi-day yacht afterwards.

  • Still private — the boat is yours, not a shared seat
  • Speedboats for 4–6, motor vessels for 10–15
  • Route reshaped during the day, not fixed at booking

How long

Half a day to four nights

The vessel is matched to the group and the distance. Longer runs get a larger, more comfortable boat.

  • Half day

    ~4 hours
One island or one snorkel circuit. Morning or afternoon.
  • Full day

    8–10 hours
Two or three islands, a trek and snorkelling. The common choice.
  • 2 nights

    Overnight
Sleeps aboard, reaches the further anchorages.
  • 3–4 nights

    Extended
Effectively a short liveaboard without the full commitment.

Half-day charters do not have a dedicated page yet — message us and we will quote one directly.

Where a day goes

Four destinations that fit a single day

Pick one as the anchor of the trip and the rest of the route builds around the tide.

Cloud drifting over the three bays of Padar Island Half day

Padar Island

Speedboat across, two-hour ridge climb, three-bay viewpoint, back by afternoon.

The pink shoreline of Pink Beach Half day

Pink Beach

Extended beach time, shallow reef snorkelling, red sand at its best in flat light.

The Loh Buaya gate at Rinca Island Full day

Rinca — Loh Buaya

Ranger-guided dragon trek with better odds than Komodo in some seasons.

A diver alongside a manta ray Morning tide

Manta Point

Snorkel with mantas — often better than diving them, since you can follow from the surface.

What you can build into it

Snorkel, trek, dive — or all three

A private boat means the group does not have to do the same thing at the same time.

  • Snorkelling led

No certification needed. Guides brief beginners and lead the rest.

  • Island trekking

Padar ridge, Rinca or Komodo, with a park ranger throughout.

  • Two or three dives

Certified divers, sites chosen by current and certification level.

  • Village visits

Weaving, boat-building and crafts bought straight from the maker.

  • Photography stops

The boat repositions and waits. Nobody is rushing you off a ridge.

  • Split the group

Some dive, some snorkel, some stay aboard — one boat, one day.

Straight answer

Boat charter or yacht charter?

The difference is time and sleeping arrangements, not quality of water.

This page

Boat charter

  • Half a day to four nights
  • Lower total cost, easy to slot into a wider trip
  • Sleep ashore in Labuan Bajo, or aboard on longer runs
  • Ideal as a first look before committing to a week

The alternative

Yacht charter

  • Three nights and up, always aboard
  • Ensuite cabins, chef, full crew of eight
  • Reaches anchorages a day boat cannot return from
  • Dawn and dusk at the sites, not just midday

Sunrise on Padar and manta at first light both need a boat that stayed out overnight. If those are the reason you came, start at the yacht charter page.

How a day runs

Picked up, out, back

  1. 1

    Hotel pickup

Transfer from your Labuan Bajo accommodation to the harbour.

  2. 2

    Harbour brief

Safety, route and timings, then straight aboard.

  3. 3

    Your route

Islands, water and stops, reordered through the day as it suits.

  4. 4

    Back by agreed time

Returned to the harbour and dropped at your hotel.

If the weather turns

Conditions are checked before departure. Poor weather means a reroute, a reschedule, or a refund of the part we could not deliver — decided before you board, not halfway out.
