A phinisi under sail seen from the air

Duration silo · 6 nights aboard

A full week, with room for the weather to move

Two or three days more than the standard routes. That buys quieter anchorages, repeat visits to the same dive site, and a day in hand when the sea disagrees with the plan.

What a week is for

The islands shorter charters have to skip

Six nights aboard a private phinisi with a dedicated crew, three meals a day and a route built inside and around the national park.

Against a 4D3N the extra time reaches Padar's far viewpoints at both ends of the day, more than one manta cleaning station, and anchorages the day-trip traffic never gets to.

  • Repeat a dive site instead of moving on from it
  • Chase specific light rather than take what the schedule gives
  • A slower pace that families and photographers both want

Day by day

A representative week

Every route differs. This is the pattern most full-week charters out of Labuan Bajo follow.

  1. Day 1

    Depart Labuan Bajo

Sail to Rinca or Kalong for a dragon trek, then the bat flight at sunset.

    • Rinca trek
    • Kalong bat flight
  2. Day 2

    Padar and the dragons

Sunrise trek on Padar, Pink Beach snorkelling, then a ranger walk on Komodo Island.

    • Padar sunrise
    • Pink Beach
    • Komodo Island
  3. Day 3

    Mantas and the sandbar

Snorkelling or diving at Manta Point, then Taka Makassar.

    • Manta Point
    • Taka Makassar
  4. Day 4

    The unhurried one

Kelor Island trek and reef snorkelling at Kanawa or Seraya. A slower day that shorter charters rarely allow.

    • Kelor
    • Kanawa
    • Seraya
  5. Day 5

    Crew's choice

Additional dive sites or a lesser-visited anchorage, picked with the crew on the day's conditions.

    • Dive sites
    • quiet anchorage
  6. Day 6

    Last island, last swim

A final stop and swim, then the sail back toward Labuan Bajo.

    • Final island
    • return leg
  7. Day 7

    Disembark

Morning arrival in Labuan Bajo and transfer ashore.

    • Harbour
    • transfer

Day five exists partly as a weather buffer. If a crossing is rough earlier in the week, the route absorbs it without losing a highlight.

Inside the rate

What six nights includes

The list below is standard. What sits outside it is listed underneath, because that is where surprises usually come from.

  • Cabin or full boat

A private phinisi cabin, or exclusive use of the whole vessel.

  • All meals

Three a day for six nights, plus drinking water.

  • Snorkel gear

Masks and fins, plus kayaks or paddleboards on most vessels.

  • Ranger landings

Guided dragon viewing on Komodo and Rinca with a park ranger.

  • Flexible routing

Daily route built around weather, tide and what the group wants.

  • Full crew

Captain and crew aboard for the length of the charter.

How to book it

A cabin, or the whole boat

Nearly every full-week request comes down to this. Group size decides it more than budget does.

Families and groups

Full-boat charter

  • Every cabin, the entire crew, nobody else aboard
  • Full control of the daily route and schedule
  • Flat rate for the vessel — better per head as the group grows

Couples and solo

Per-cabin booking

  • A private cabin on a phinisi shared with other guests
  • Shared deck and dining, fixed decision points
  • Charged per person — the budget way to do a full week

Compare vessel classes on the pricing page before committing to seven days. It is the length where the difference between boats stops being cosmetic.

Honestly about extensions

Raja Ampat is a separate leg, not a longer sail

Raja Ampat sits in a different archipelago, reached by flight via Bali or Sorong. A week in Komodo and a Raja Ampat cruise are two trips, booked separately.

Mainland Flores is the simpler add-on: a day or two for the Wae Rebo highland village or the Ruteng highlands, no flights involved.

The process

Four steps to a week aboard

  1. 1

    Dates and structure

Travel window, group size, and per cabin or full boat.

  2. 2

    Vessel shortlist

Available phinisi for your dates, with an itemised quote.

  3. 3

    Route and deposit

Day-by-day plan agreed, then the booking confirmed.

  4. 4

    Board in Labuan Bajo

Transfers, permits and provisioning handled before you arrive.

Ask for it itemised

A written quote should separate the charter cost, park fees and optional add-ons such as diving or extensions. If a quote does not, ask why.
